Quicktime has posted an animated prologue to Hellboy II explaining the backstory of the titular Golden Army. I
urge anybody interested in seeing this movie to go check it out. It’s extremely well done, and appears to have been done by the comic’s creator Mike Mignola, which is extremely cool. It’s actually quite long, which leads me to believe that there will be a more condensed version in the movie when it hits screens on July 11th.

I was just sitting here watching Attack of The Show on G4 and out of nowhere they show a quick 10 seconds from the upcoming teaser for the new James Bond film, Quantum of Solace. It really didn’t show much except Bond walking towards the camera with a voiceover from Judi Dench’s “M”, but I’ll takes what I can gets. If anybody happens to stumble on this somewhere on youtube, be sure to post here or in the movie chat at the SteakNBJ forums. Follow the link below. The full trailer will debut Monday morning between 9am-11am over at AOL.com and MSN.com

The Dark Knight is hands down going to be the best movie of the summer. I know, I know, how can I say that without having seen it yet? Well, I’m just that confident in it. The Batman movies played a big part in molding my love for movies in general, so the fact that Batman Begins and TDK are of the caliber that they are, makes me a very happy. Anyway, I just want to let everybody know that advance tickets are already on sale. Go! Buy! Now! The better this movie does at the box office, the better our chances of getting a third movie are. The Dark Knight opens in theaters on July 18th.

Dark Horizons has discovered the trailer for “Disaster Movie” over at the MySpace Trailer Park. I think disaster is a bit of an understatement here. It’s another “spoof” movie in the vain of Scary, Date, Epic, and I can’t believe that there’s even that many of them to list. The only reason I’m writing about this is because it’s mind boggling how quickly they’re churning these out. Now, it’s not that think these movies don’t have their place in the comedic film space, because I do. I grew up on my fair share of Airplane & Naked Gun movies. It’s just that they’re not even trying anymore, mainly because people keep showing up in droves to see them for some reason.
These types of flicks used to actually have something to say in regards to the movies they were spoofing, well, kind of. Now it’s just a race to see how many current pop cultural gags they can fit on screen at once. The only logical next step would be to spoof films that haven’t even begun shooting yet. Ok, I can ramble on about this for a while, so just go and check out the trailer just to see what a disaster really looks like. I want to hear what people think of this
Oh, also, I’m pretty sure if it weren’t for these types of movies, current and former MadTV “stars” would be screwed….that says alot.

I know what you’re thinking and the answer is no, this is not just a DVD Tuesday blog. It may seem that way because those are pretty much the only things I’ve posted about. I assure you, that’s not the goal of the site. In the meantime, this will have to do.
There are a bunch of DVD releases this week, a few of which I’ll be picking up.
- In Bruges - Colin Farrell stars in this under the radar dark comedy about two Irish gangsters on the run in Bruges, Belgium. I’ve heard great things about this flick and is my #1 pick for this week. I was not happy when I missed this in theaters earlier on this year.
- 10,000 B.C. - Roland Emmerich’s follow up to The Day After Tomorrow. Personally, I have no desire to see this one, but many of you out there might be up for this loincloth’d adventure.
- The Spiderwick Chronicles - Another children’s fantasy novel cashing in on the post Harry Potter craze. I’m interested in picking this one up just because Freddie Highmore seems to continuously star in interesting films…oh, and Seth Rogen’s in it apparently. Sold!
- The Hammer - Typically I wouldn’t even put an Adam Carolla movie on this list, but this is another one that i’ve only heard good things about.
- Persepolis - Academy Award nominee for Best Animated Feature, this film is supposed to be just as good as the graphic novel it’s based on.
Until next time…
