Not So Crucial Tuesday Releases 7.8.08

The Batman news onslaught carries over onto this weeks DVD releases. As usual, opinions on this weeks major releases is always encouraged.

  • Batman Gotham Knight - Here we have six animated interlocking stories that bridge the gap between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Hopefully this will be better than The Animatrix (same idea as Gotham Knight), although I didn’t think that was terrible. Many talented writers, including David Goyer and Josh Olson, teamed up with six different directors to bring these stories to life…can’t wait!
  • X-Files Revelations - This release contains 8 episodes from the series that apparently provide a good base for the upcoming movie; X-Files: I Want To Believe. The movie is apparently a stand-alone story and unrelated to the show/first film’s story arc, but I’ll use any reason to re-visit the original show. Man, I’m glad the X-Files are back.
  • The Ruins - Based on the best selling novel by Scott Smith, The Ruins is about a pair of couples that encounter something mysterious down in Mexico when visiting an ancient Mayan ruins site. I haven’t seen this one, but it was a concept that peaked my interest when it came out. If you’re a horror fan, I would say this is one to pick up this week.
  • The Mummy (Universal Legacy Series) - No detailed description necessary. The original 1932 classic with an unmatched performance by Boris Karloff. If you haven’t seen it, pick this up.

Other Releases This Week:

Until next week…
