Not So Crucial Tuesday Releases 7.1.08
Not too many essential releases this week, but enough to keep you occupied. I’m going to start listing these releases from my most desired to least desired. As always, if you have anything to say about any of this weeks releases, feel free to post here or over in the SteakNBJ.com movie forum.
- My Blueberry Nights - Jude Law, Natalie Portman, and Norah Jones star in Hong Kong based director Wong Kar Wai’s first attempt at an English language movie. Once again, Wong Kar Wai treads familiar territory examining themes such as love and hearbreak. If you’ve ever seen his 2001 film “In The Mood For Love”, then you’ll be just as eager to see this one as much as I am.
- Drillbit Taylor - Owen Wilson stars as an ex soldier hired by a couple of teenagers to be their bodyguard at school. Co-written by Seth Rogen, the movie appeared to have some funny moments, although it was not terribly successful at the box office. If you like the typical Owen Wilson shtick, then I’m sure this one if for you.
- Mad Men - Season One - This A&E drama about an ad agency in the 1960’s came out of the gate with some pretty great reviews. I was able to catch an episode when the season initially ran, and liked what I saw. This is a great alternative to the lack of HBO programming that we’ve seen since The Sopranos went off the air. Check it out.
Other Releases This Week:
- Vantage Point - Starring Dennis Quaid & Matthew Fox
- 30 Days: The Complete Second Season - Morgan Spurlock
- City of Men - Starring Douglas Silva

Probably not gonna pick up anything this week. I already jumped on best buys 2 for $30 blu-ray and got hellboy and pan’s labyrinth so I’m good. But if i can get that really good deal on 24 (all 6 seasons for $30) ill pick that up, but they didn’t have any yesterday.

I really want to pick up Mad Men. If it gets picked up for a few more seasons, I have a feeling it will get bigger and bigger.
