Not So Crucial Tuesday Releases 6.24.08

I know what you’re thinking and the answer is no, this is not just a DVD Tuesday blog. It may seem that way because those are pretty much the only things I’ve posted about. I assure you, that’s not the goal of the site. In the meantime, this will have to do.

There are a bunch of DVD releases this week, a few of which I’ll be picking up.

  • In Bruges - Colin Farrell stars in this under the radar dark comedy about two Irish gangsters on the run in Bruges, Belgium. I’ve heard great things about this flick and is my #1 pick for this week. I was not happy when I missed this in theaters earlier on this year.
  • 10,000 B.C. - Roland Emmerich’s follow up to The Day After Tomorrow. Personally, I have no desire to see this one, but many of you out there might be up for this loincloth’d adventure.
  • The Spiderwick Chronicles - Another children’s fantasy novel cashing in on the post Harry Potter craze. I’m interested in picking this one up just because Freddie Highmore seems to continuously star in interesting films…oh, and Seth Rogen’s in it apparently. Sold!
  • The Hammer - Typically I wouldn’t even put an Adam Carolla movie on this list, but this is another one that i’ve only heard good things about.
  • Persepolis - Academy Award nominee for Best Animated Feature, this film is supposed to be just as good as the graphic novel it’s based on.

Until next time…
