In Theaters…

This weekend see’s the release of two (depending on who you talk) pretty big summer releases. The most obvious would be the “reboot” of “The Incredible Hulk”. I’ve been psyched about this one since the announcement of Ed Norton as Bruce Banner. The credibility he brings to the film should hopefully pay off much like the casting of Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne or Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark.

The other big name release would be M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Happening” (I can’t believe I just wrote it that way). Since I’ve been an apologist of his since “Unbreakable” (very underrated), I would usually be encouraging people to rush out and see this one, but I’m not feeling it this time. The negative buzz surrounding the script when it was called “The Green Effect” seems to have stuck with the film up until now, and his last few films have fallen flat.

If you’re gonna see one, go with Hulk.

I should have reviews up for both films over the next few days.

I don’t know how I feel about the hulk… the last one obviously didn’t do it for me, as much as I love 3 headed dogs. I don’t know, I think it’s the over use of CGI in movies these days that are killing a lot of them for me. And as far as The Happening goes, I’m definitely curious, but also have my reservations as I highly disliked Lady In The Water. But I will agree with you that Unbreakable is totally underrated, I liked it, along with The Village (where nobody seemed to like the end). I just hope he didn’t put himself as a major role in this one.. uggh, stick to writing/directing.

I know what you mean about over use of CGI, but I’d rather see that than a man in a suit for the hulk. Unfortunately for The Happening, I know too much about the movie (which I won’t spoil), but it does not look to be a return to form for Shyamalan. I agree with you about The Village though. I do think that’s a really well made film, just a disappointing ending.

Just in case you were wondering, The Signal was pretty good, very bloody, funny, entertaining… good overall movie.

I’ll definitely be checking that out soon.
